What is better for heating a home, a wood stove or a pellet? Is one better for the environment then the other?

I prefer a pellet stove. The burn is a lot cleaner and the ash is very minimal. You are not having to haul wood through the hose. The temperature is controlled by a thermostat. So you have a constant temp instead of a fluctuating temp with a wood stove.
