How much should a new Air Handler cost (installed)?

I got a quote from a HVAC contractor today that seems pretty high – $3,200. It would be a 2.5 ton (30,000 btuh) unit to replace an existing oil fired furnace. Cost includes removal of the old unit and running about 35′ of new wire from the electrical panel.

HVAC Tech.: Sounds like a really good deal to me Wholesale on the replacement unit is around $2500 So if you get R&R for around $700 you better grab on to it. But just for grins and giggles get at least two more quotes.Good luck!!
