How does electric heating cost compare to oil heating or gas?

Does it cost more? Would you buy a house that use Electric heating?

Here in Ohio ,nastural gas is the cheapest heat.
Fuel oil and propane are also cheaper than electric and electric is the most expensive.
Agree that a heat pump with natural gas will help save money, but the savings depends but depends on area you live. Not enough warm days and you do not save much. Also heat pumps generally do not work below 32*.

    electric heat is more expensive than oil or gas heat. elec will cost about twice as much as gas and only slightly more than oil. at least in Washington state. you can always switch to gas, or get what is called a heat pump. its still electric but is way more efficient than standard elec heat.
