I need to figure out how to pump home heating oil out of a tank in a basement. Any suggestions?
they make a hand siphon for removing gas from cars its actually pretty neat has about 1/2 inch hose rather cheap to buy also they make a drill attachment to siphon that hooks to drill put a screen over hole that goes in tank to keep out sludge

I’d check with an heating oil company to see if they do it. There is usually sludge at the bottom of the tank which is not good for burning. If you are replacing the tank the company supplying the new one may be able to give you an idea.

Why do you need to do this????
Get a syphon hose and load fuel into a 55 gallon drums.

Get a 12V pump same/similar as the ones sold in Farm & Fleet Stores that you see in the beds of Pickups. Drop the hose into the tank and the other into whatever where ever and whalla problm solved.
Now, look at the non-answers and incompetence you recived here prior to my deciding to help you out on this. I gave you the real answer because I’m an Expert like one of many that you would have found at liveperson.com.
