DEP Announces Small Business Advantage Grants to Help Improve Energy Efficiency, Reduce Pollution, Lower Operating Costs
HARRISBURG, Pa., Dec. 16, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — State investments are helping Pennsylvania small-business owners continue to lower their operating costs by conserving energy and reducing pollution, Department of Environmental Protection Secretary John Hanger said today.
Am I doing this Electrical Energy KWH Meter stuff correctly? Best Answer if you can help me out?

Based only on an energy charge of $0.10101/kwh plus a 3% non taxable customer charge calculate the cost of operating a 1200-watt hair dryer for 10 minutes per day for a 30 day month.

I got $34.00 it seems a little high to me

A 40-watt florescent light bulb will provide approximately the same light as a 100-watt incandescent light bulb. based only on an energy charge of $0.10101/kwh plus a 3% non-taxable customer charge, determine the cost savings for a light that is operated 6 hours per day for a 30 day month

I got $5.34 It seems wrong again.

An electric water heater has an efficiency of 92-95% while a gas water heater has an efficiency of (at best) 80% considering this fact, explain why electric water heaters are more expensive to operate than gas water heaters.

I put down because electricy is more expensive then gas but that makes me sound stuck up

your numbers are way off.

“Based only on an energy charge of $0.10101/kwh plus a 3% non taxable customer charge calculate the cost of operating a 1200-watt hair dryer for 10 minutes per day for a 30 day month. I got $34.00 it seems a little high to me”

1200 watts is 1.2 kW
10 min/day for 30 days is 300 minutes or 5 hours
1.2 kW x 5 hr = 6 kW-hr
6 kW-hr x $0.101/kW-hr = $0.60
$0.60 x 1.03 = $0.62

A 40-watt florescent light bulb will provide approximately the same light as a 100-watt incandescent light bulb. based only on an energy charge of $0.10101/kwh plus a 3% non-taxable customer charge, determine the cost savings for a light that is operated 6 hours per day for a 30 day month

savings is 60 watt x 6hr/day x 30day/mo x 1 kw/1000w = 11 kW-hr
11 kW-hr x $0.101/kW-hr = $1.11
$0.73 x 1.03 = $1.14

An electric water heater has an efficiency of 92-95% while a gas water heater has an efficiency of (at best) 80% considering this fact, explain why electric water heaters are more expensive to operate than gas water heaters.

The numbers you list have nothing to do with why electric water heaters are more expensive to operate than gas water heaters. Electric water heaters are more expensive to operate than gas water heaters because electricity is much more expensive, per unit of energy, than gas. And that is because electricity generation has lots of inefficiency that waste heat, whereas using the gas to directly heat the water wastes little heat.
