After seeing it in person, I didn’t think I could make any more excuses – the Miami Heat just weren’t that good.
Am I using too much oil to heat my home?

I live in an 850 square foot apartment with newer windows but definitely drafty! I’ve been using about 127 gallons of oil a month which I think is too much but the landlord does not. I’ve had 609 gallons of oil delivered in 4 1/2 months for an average cost of over $200/month. I know heat loss due to drafts and poor insulation is a factor but does this seem like too much oil to be going through? The boiler is OLD (25 years at least) but the landlord had it cleaned up and said it was running “efficiently.” The oil tank is undergound and I insisted they test it for leaks and it seems fine but, because it is underground, I can never tell how much oil I have left. Anyone have any idea how much oil I should be going through – just a rough estimate. I know there are many factors to take into account. I figure my the time May comes around (when I move out) the figures will be closer to 710 gallons for 5 1/2 months. Thanks!

I don’t know where you are, so I don’t know if you are using too much oil. If you have newer windows, you should not have drafts. Have the drafts repaired. To find out if you are using a lot of oil, call the oil supplier, and ask them what the average use is for an apartment your size in your area. They should also be able to run an analysis to show you how much oil you SHOULD be using, versus what you are using.
