gas heating?

Gas Co. offers free furnace checks
DOWNEY – With cold weather forecasted this weekend, the Southern California Gas Company is offering free furnace inspections to ensure that customers’ home heating equipment is operating safely.
What does electric/gas heating mean?

we’re looking at houses for my aunt and under one house it says heating is “electric/gas.” what does this mean? please help!! thanks.

It means it has a forced air furnace that needs electricity to run ( for example, the thermostat ) but actually uses natural gas to heat the house. It needs BOTH to work.

It is just as safe as an oil furnace and in fact a gas furnace requires less maintenance. To learn about how a gas furnace operates, check out the furnace page at http://www.hvac-for-beginners.com

I alway had gas heat until this year when we moved into a new house. No explosions. Now we have oil heat and I worry about having the fire danger and explosion danger of having a 600 gallon tank of oil in my basement.

new gas furnaces have so many safety features.they have 2 ,count em 2 ,high temp sensors, flame roll out sensors, pressure switch that will shut down the combustion if it senses a blockage in the flues, and of course it goes through a system check b4 the gas valve opens at start up. it s as safe as putting gas to fire can be. trust me, there s alot of technology in there nowadays.
