I live in Massachusetts & my home has electric heat with thermostats in each room. Very expensive to use so I don’t turn them on. I just don’t know if I’ll use less electricity by running the pellet stove or the electric room heaters. One 40 lb bag of pellets costs $6 & lasts approx 24 hours. Since it is plugged in, the stove uses some electricity but I don’t have a clue how much. If anyone out there is knowledgeable in this subject, I’d really appreciate your assistance.
I suspect your electric heater isnt 10 watts but 10 amps. If this is correct then one 10 amp heaters will draw 1200 watts or 1.2 kilowatts. The electric company measures your usage by how many kilowatts you use in an hour. If your heater runs for an hour it will cost you approxamately 12 cents.
Your wood burning stove costs $6/day or 25 cents an hour. Your electric heaters will cost you 24 cents an hour ( assuming that the heaters really are 1200 watts ). This also doesnt take BTU’s into account which is the measure of how much heat the fixtures actually put out. Wood burning stoves usually put out many more BTU’s than electric heaters will.

We had a pellet stove like 4 years ago and it got to be so expensive so we took it back. I know that doesn’t help you. I know my heating bill will sky high. I just put extra clothes on.
