What is the most efficient kind of Electric Heater?

My wife and I just bought a house, and we heard that electric heaters with ceramic coils are cheaper than using gas. You can set the heat temp in the house to a much lower setting and lower bills. Just wondering if anyone out there has some knowledge in regards to this. Thank you.

Electric is almost ALWAYS more expensive than gas. In my area, northern Ohio, electric heat is more expensive, WITH a discount for the electric heat. Just about everyone here, with any type of electric heat, has a wood stove.

You can burn the gas at your home and get heat (not 100% efficient). OR burn gas (maybe), at the power plant (not 100% efficient), transmit this power to you house (not 100% efficient), then convert it to heat (100% efficient).

Lowering ANY thermostat will help save your wallet & the environment. Programmable thermostats will help you do this automatically. I don’t have one & sometimes forget to lower the t-stat when I leave.

As for the ceramic, my personal opinion this, is ceramic holds the heat a bit longer; causing your to think that the heater is on, when it isn’t, after it has turned off. This would lead your to believe that the heater is on, when it is not. From this, ceramic IS NOT any more efficient than non ceramic. This is true of oil filled (electric radiators) heaters.
