Is it possible to run a diesel generator off of home heating oil? Any info would be appreciated.
How long will diesel fuel stay stable in a 5 gallon gasoline container? Is it like gasoline in that it isnt stable for long without the use of stabilizer?
If it doesnt stay good for long, is there such a thing as “diesel stabilizer’? Thanks.
I have heard of people adding some lubricating oil to home heating oil to increase it’s viscosity in order to run a diesel generator.

home heating oil is kerosene it wil work but I would at least mix it half and half with diesel because the consistency will be too thin for most diesel engines this is why kerosene is added to diesel in the winter when it tends to gum up

It won’t run on kerosene.

home heating oil is #1 or #2 fuel oil. its not kerosene. kerosene is different i wouldn’t try to run a diesel engine on it. home heating oil, or fuel oil yes. diesel stabelizer yes, available at auto parts stores
