Best or most cost effective electric heating for my home?
I bought an older home, have done a lot of renovations, and now I have come to the part of heating/cooling. We currently have a 30+ year old gas furnace and want to get rid of it and convert to electric heat/cooling. House is 2500-3000 square feet. What kind of unit(s) would be best for me? I want to keep the cost reasonable as possible. Anyone with experience in the subject please advise. Thanks!!!!
cost effective stay with gas! a new high efficency gas furnace is far better then any electric heat system.

You have too many options to cover here. First, for the size there is a lot more to it than square footage of the home. As for the best unit, it depends on your location as well as your utility rates. My best advice for you is to go to http://www.hvac-for-beginners.com. Check out the furnace, heat pump, geothermal, and load calculation pages. That will guide you through the process.
